A friend, a US Marine, recently shared this with me. It is an unwritten rule in the US Marine Corps that leaders eat last. It doesn’t matter if it’s a chow line during training or at a backyard bbq on a Saturday, the leaders eat last. By doing so the leaders make sure their followers have everything they need. If anyone does without it is the leaders that do without. How can you apply this in your work? Use food as a metaphor if you need to but it could apply with anything you work with. When making decisions remember that leaders eat last.
